These terms govern your use of localmatefinder.com and the neighborhood groups, events, and features Local Mate Finder provides.

Last updated: January 2, 2025. By creating a profile or otherwise using localmatefinder.com, you agree to the terms below.

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form an agreement between you and Local Mate Finder, 815 SW 2nd Ave, Suite 100, Portland, OR 97204. By accessing or using localmatefinder.com, creating a profile, or joining a neighborhood group, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a profile on Local Mate Finder. Our services are intended for residents of the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. By creating a profile, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

Description of Service

Local Mate Finder connects users with neighborhood groups and community events in the Portland area. We provide the tools to organize groups, list events, and communicate with other members. We are not a party to any arrangement made between members and do not guarantee the outcome of any meetup, group, or event.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your profile and for any activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at contact@localmatefinder.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

Community Guidelines

We expect all members to treat each other with basic respect. The following are not allowed on Local Mate Finder:

  • Harassment, discrimination, or threatening behavior directed at another member.
  • Using the platform to advertise, solicit, or sell products or services to other members.
  • Creating a profile using a false identity or impersonating another person.
  • Posting content that is unlawful, obscene, or infringes on someone else's rights.

We may remove content or suspend a profile that violates these guidelines, at our discretion.

Meetups and In-Person Events

Local Mate Finder helps organize community meetups and events, but these gatherings are planned and hosted by members and local organizers, not by Local Mate Finder staff. Any decision to attend, host, or participate in a meetup or event is entirely your own. We recommend meeting in public locations, especially for a first meetup, and using ordinary caution when meeting anyone in person. Local Mate Finder is not responsible for the conduct of members at events or for any injury, loss, or dispute that arises from an in-person meetup.

Content You Submit

You retain ownership of any content you submit to Local Mate Finder, such as messages, event descriptions, or profile information. By submitting content, you grant us a license to display and distribute it within the platform as needed to operate the service.

Disclaimers

Local Mate Finder is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular group, match, or event will meet your expectations.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Local Mate Finder and its staff are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including damages resulting from interactions with other members or attendance at any meetup or event.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Local Mate Finder if you violate these Terms or our community guidelines. You may stop using the service and request deletion of your profile at any time by contacting us.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post any changes on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of localmatefinder.com after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
